At Anna’s Kitchen Table

My 42nd birthday was spent in Cyprus this year, surrounded by my family, both of my brothers were there this year, my older brother with his family, my younger brother on his own, also my Mother and my two daughters.
It was really lovely to spend time with my brothers, as my older brother lives in South Wales with his family so we don’t get to spend much time together.
Afxentis has a very small, very homely restaurant in the village where Mom’s house is. He serves delicious, home cooked food, very basic grills (he has a coal bbq in the back!) home cooked fries made with the village’s perfect Cypriot potatoes, squid which is freshly delivered daily by the local fishermen, you get the picture….
We went walking to Afxenti’s on my birthday, just in case we were drinking (just in case?? What am I saying – we KNEW we’d be drunk at the end of the night!)

Afxentis seems to survive on whisky and fags, LOL!
I love Afxentis’ place, it’s so rustic, there are things hanging off all the walls – drawings done by his customers, harvesting tools, photographs of the villagers, Che Guevara (??)

Here’s my (our) birthday cake – just so you know it’s chocolate and caramel and it was absolutely heavenly!

We had a fantastic evening, how I made it home I’ll never know…….
