1. Old-fashioned chocolate cake from ‘Feast’ by Nigella Lawson.
I really, really love this cake, in fact I’ve lost count now of the many times I’ve made it. It really is a fail-safe chocolate cake, that is intensely chocolatey, but also because of the addition of the sour cream, it’s not sickly at all, but it is very, very moreish.
I like that both the cake and then the lovely chocolate frosting are made in the food processor, so minimal faffing about.
2. Breakfast bars from ‘Nigella Express’ by Nigella Lawson.
These really should be called ‘superfood bars’. I’m always constantly surprised, every time I make them, at the number of ‘superfoods’ going into these little beauties – oats, cranberries, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, coconut.
I love the fact that they contain no added fat, ok so they contain a whole tin of condensed milk, but no other added sugar. In my opinion, there are many less healthy things that one could have for breakfast.
Anna, I love the cake as well. However, I have to disagree with you on the breakfast bars. You see, they are only healthy if you can control how many you eat in one sitting lol. I love them so much that I don’t make them. Though, when I give in I use fat-free condensed milk (ok no fat, but deffo has calories!!!) and dried cherries as I like them much more than dried cranberries. Oh gosh! Just the picture of them is tempting me. 🙂

Anna, I am sure all the superfoods offset that *little bit of fat and sugar* in the tinned and sweetened milk;) I agree, still much healthier than the dusty bought blocks! You surely know I agree on the cake too:D One of the nicest gifts from Nigella ever – it’s a constant in our kitchen:)
